A full IHT400 is needed?

Grant application with IHT400

£1,750

including £291.67 VAT

For an uncontested UK estate that needs a full inheritance-tax account before the grant application can be submitted.

This is a defined application service, not full administration. If the estate needs specialist tax advice, foreign work or trust administration, that work is quoted separately before it starts.

Inheritance Tax already paid?

Check whether the estate can reclaim some of it

A refund may be available where qualifying investments or property were sold at an overall loss, or the original tax account needs another correction. GetWill reuses the Estate records, gathers the missing evidence and prepares the appropriate claim for Fifty Six Law.

The free check does not guarantee a refund. Every relevant sale and purchase must be included, and some claims can reduce or eliminate the apparent saving.

£495 + 25% + VAT

30% in total; the initial fee is credited if HMRC repays tax

The percentage applies to tax repaid, not HMRC supplementary interest.

Need to change an inheritance?

A Deed of Variation can redirect an entitlement from a will, intestacy or, in some cases, survivorship. GetWill prepares the draft from the source information and Fifty Six Law reviews it before issue.

Full administration examples

The work determines the price, not a percentage of the estate.

Common questions

The fixed prices are for uncontested estates in England and Wales with assets in the UK.

Do I have to use a solicitor for probate?

No. If you are entitled to deal with the estate, you may organise and apply yourself. GetWill offers a self-service workspace as well as legal services provided by Fifty Six Law when you choose them.

Is the Probate Registry fee included?

No. The current Probate Registry application fee is £526 where the estate is worth more than £5,000. It is a court fee, not part of the GetWill or Fifty Six Law fee.

What if the estate becomes disputed?

The fixed prices on this page are for uncontested UK estates. You can continue keeping safe records in GetWill, but contentious legal work requires a separate agreement with Fifty Six Law. An initial consultation is free.

What happens to the information I enter if I upgrade?

Your saved estate information carries across. You do not need to re-enter the people, organisations, assets, debts and documents you have already confirmed, and the £195 Estate Organiser price is credited against a Fifty Six Law probate service for that estate.

Who provides what?

GetWill is the technology platform provided by Ailex Ltd. The Estate Organiser does not include legal advice. Grant applications, full estate administration and any legal advice are provided only by Fifty Six Law Ltd after conflict and identity checks and a separate agreement for the stated service. Fifty Six Law Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, SRA number 8009306.

If a disagreement or claim arises, safe record-keeping can continue in GetWill, but contentious work is outside these prices. Fifty Six Law offers a free initial consultation and agrees any further terms separately.
