LPA120 Guide: Getting Help with LPA Registration Fees

A practical guide to LPA120 fee-help applications: when to use it, what evidence is needed, and how to reduce rejection risk.

What LPA120 is for

LPA120 is the OPG form for fee help when registering an LPA or EPA.

As of form version 02.26:

  • Remission means paying 50% of the fee (shown as £46 per application on the form)
  • Exemption means paying no fee

When to consider it

Use LPA120 where the donor may qualify for:

  • Means-tested benefit based exemption, or
  • Income-based remission

Core eligibility points (02.26 form)

  • Remission route: donor gross annual income before tax is £12,000 or less
  • Exemption route: donor receives a qualifying means-tested benefit
  • Personal injury damages above £16,000 can affect exemption, unless that amount was disregarded for benefit assessment

Evidence standards that cause most failures

Most rejected requests fail on evidence quality, not intention.

Before submission, verify:

  • Donor full name, address, and postcode match across LPA and evidence
  • Evidence is from the correct financial year (1 April to 31 March)
  • Income/benefit documents match the route you selected
  • Bank statements are not used as sole proof where provider letters are required

Submission rule many people miss

OPG requires LPA120 and supporting evidence at the same time as the LPA/EPA registration application.

Splitting this across separate submissions is a common reason for delay.

Practical workflow

  1. Complete LPA core form data accurately
  2. Decide exemption vs remission route
  3. Build route-specific evidence pack
  4. Cross-check donor details across every document
  5. Submit everything together and retain a full copy set

If not eligible under standard rules

The 02.26 form refers to hardship requests in writing where paying fees would cause financial hardship.

If a decision is refused

The form states review requests should be made in writing within 28 days, with supporting documents.
